the farm came to Rennes!

This week in downtown Rennes, there was a "farm" set up for people (mostly children) to visit!!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I was so happy!

So this morning, I met Sarah and 2 of the kids she takes care of and we explored the farm! It almost felt like I was home...

"la ferme en ville" = "the farm in the city"

SK -- this picture is for you. :)

This poster made me laugh... "the life of a pig"

It made me miss my home in KANSAS. A lot. Especially with wheat harvest starting!!

saturday adventures with Sarah

Sarah and I took a day trip to here:
It's an old medieval town about an hour from Rennes. It has cool ruins of an old chateau and is surrounded by gorgeous scenery and SO GREEN!

We arrived on Saturday morning, just in time for the Saturday market. Hats, watches, jewlery, spices, clothes, fruit, cheese, olives, etc. etc.

You never know what kind of funny signs you'll see in France. Hahahahaa. This one made us laugh a lot. :)

This was our view for our picnic lunch.

Oh man, we got the giggles and started laughing and laughing and laughing. I don't know how many times we tried to take a "normal picture". It was impossible.

We found GREAT deals on stuff from an antique store!!!! Only 5 euros for BOTH vases and Sarah got a steal of a deal for her original painting.

That's an entrance to a house!!!

Lots of old buildings like this -- can you tell it's crooked?

The French do an oustanding job of keeping up parks, gardens, flowers. The hedges are always perfectly manicured.

"Happiness is in wheat" :)

We finished our day with coffee and a crepe (homemade chocolate = YUM) at a little cafe next to the castle.

Ahhhh, la vie en France!

birthday fun!!

I turned 25. Woah it's old. :) My actual birthday was on Tuesday, but Monday night we had a big BBQ with friends and it was so great! I felt so loved and spoiled. My French mom Lisa Kellum and her family hosted it and they did an amazing job getting stuff ready.

Here are some pictures of the fun:

Then, the next day (my actual birthday) I was awakened at 7:30 in the morning by my doorbell ringing. This is what I saw:

Breakfast in bed from Joel and Jeremie!!!!! They got up at 5:50 in the morning!!!!! We put a table out on the balcony and had a wonderful breakfast all together.

We took a bunch of these pictures in the car, and I'm not smiling in one of them... oops. :)

And this is my Sarah friend that I saw later at the park. :) I like her.
