New discoveries...

This week, Sarah and I decided to try out a new Mexican restaurant. Mexican food isn't super common in France, although now you can buy "el paso" brand chips, salsa and burritos at big grocery stores. Anyway, we were both craving Mexican food, so we decided to try this place "La Nouvelle Orleans: American Tex-Mex". We got the menu, and we saw that we could order nacho chips, and got really excited, thinking CHIPS AND SALSA!!!! And what we got, was a bowl of chips with two pieces of American cheese melted on top...

Then, we ordered our chicken fajitas, and they guy brought us out this sizzling hot platter, with no extra plates, so we had to create everything in the palm of our hands. It was entertaining. It was really good though! We were very pleasantly surprised by American Tex-Mex in France.

Then, of course, like good French girls, we went to a fun café and ordered this particular café's specialty drinks. It was kind of like going to Starbucks... The guy who took our picture was very entertained that we wanted a picture taken, and told us we had big American smiles. :) It was gooooood coffee!

Yesterday, I discovered this whole new world in Rennes. There's this HUGE shopping mall area that I didn't know about until yesterday! HOORAY!! Oh man! It's amazing! And as I was walking blissfully walking around, I saw "Pier Import" which I can only assume is the international Pier 1. Right, Molly? I had to take a picture. You can see me in the window of the store. :) It was a glorious discovery!

The Adventures have begun!

I have finally created a blog, hoping to keep people better updated on what it's like living in France. We'll see how it goes, and if I manage to update it regularly...

But for now, here are some pictures of my city!

This is my friend Sarah, an American, who is working in Rennes this year. She's trying to "keep cool" as the sign says.

Pretty buildings, with cafés (thanks Nathan, for the photo!)
